I have recently taken up the part of a Commander in a guild named The Dawns Trust on my current realm on world of warcraft, and I put together the guilds first meeting. I wanted to make a small fanfic about it and since I was rather proud I thought i'd share it with you all. It's an Argent Crusade guild and who knows if you read it you might like it and I might trick you back into wow! Mwahhaha
The sun rose over the horizon, she watched the silent growth of another sea, which the stormy ocean of the wind could not disturb –the sea of the light. First it would begin to gather in the crevice of hollow places. Deep valleys, and all little pits on the hillsides, were wellsprings where it gathered, and whence it seemed to overflow, till it buried Azeroth beneath its mass, and, rising high into the heavens, swept over the faces of the Crusaders, washing the blinding day across them, down through the waters of the light to the eyes of the Argent Crusade. The subdivision named The Dawns Trust stood side by side out in the vineyards that grew from the holy ground that surrounded lights hopes chapel. The sun fissured miscellanies of light across the silver metal of adorned armour and blades reeling rainbows and life into each of the Crusaders. Before the cultivated band of Azeroths defenders a sturdy and proud figure stood darkened against the dawn of a new day, the edges of her profile lit up in varies of red and orange fragments adding power to the features carved into a fulfilled beam.
The assemblage of friends and strangers hushed their voices as their eyes of dissimilar dyes focused up to the figure before them. The lips of the female parted from the proud smile to project and form the strong unwavering voice that carried the message of the Dawns Trust.
“What it means to be a Crusader of The Dawns Trust. What does it mean to be a Crusader? When you wake up every morning and put on your tabard, I want you to think what it means when you shoulder these colours so proudly for all to see.”
The Commander raises her hand towards the small band of individuals indicating to the silver and gold tabard proudly displayed on each chest covering the varying armour. Blonde filaments of hair graced the pallid face of the determined Commander Sunhaze, her arms spreading wide towards everything that was around them, to the entire world.
“We are the decent people of the world. We are in the majority, for men and women are essentially decent. We live in cities; we live under all the flags that fly. Decency is not determined by our economic status, our beliefs, the language we speak, the colour of our skin, or the ideology under which we live. Decency is a universal quality. We as the Argent Crusade are a handful of the decent people of the world, and often we have our voices drowned out by the shouts of leaders who misrepresent the things for which we stand. We the decent people carry enough weight to tip the scale for decency if we will make ourselves heard… We believe that was is the great indecency, that it kills and destroys all the higher sensibilities of man and leaves only death, suffering, and destruction in its wake.”
Sweeping the feral hued eyes across horizon of hopeful faces, a mixture of compassion and harshness met their hope with understanding.
“We believe that this is a beautiful universe and that it is made for love and not for hate; for peace and not war; for freedom and not slavery; for order and not riot; for compassion and not violence; for happiness and not misery. We believe that there is only one war to be waged in the name of decency, and that is the war against all the common enemies of Azeroth… hunger, disease, poverty, ignorance, crime and failure, the scourge, the burning legion. We believe that the ultimate decency is to help all races and to never harm another, to lift everyone and not degrade them, and to respect the dignity of all as individual entities. We the Argent Crusade stand for the kind of life that will be good for all the people, all of the time, everywhere. We are the Argent Crusade; we are the Dawns Trust.” Upon the final words fists rose into the air as light exuberates from each fist causing a wave of warmth, hope and elation to be visualized in a constant strand of light; a sign of approval for what they all believed in and represented.
“That is what it means to wear these colours, to stand under the same banner. But in order to achieve these goals of decorum we must go about with the correct attitude that is expected of those with such admiral aspirations.” The strong voice did not let up from Commander Sunhaze, rising over the opinionative grunts of each member present. Raising a hand for silence, the filaments of light dissolved, fading into the rising dawn and silence returned as each member hung on the words of Feiro Sunhaze.
“The longer I have lived, the more I have come to realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important that appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break us, a belief…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.”
Champion Sunsworn, a respected and bulky male stood not far from the Commander as an idol of aspiration for all the Crusaders watched his sister with dark eyes encouraging the words in silence.
“We cannot change our past… We cannot change the fact people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our attitudes. So as a Crusader no matter what we come across, as long as our attitude is above all crisp and prime then I see no shadow escaping our light. You must put this ideal forth in everything you do Crusaders, recruits and Champions and yes indeed myself.”
A wave of nods followed receiving a respectful glance from the Commander taking her time to meet the eyes of each person she had come to know and trust in the brief moment that the light had brought them together.
“Once upon a time a man had heard that in a foreign place, far away, there was a holy flame burning. So he got up and left his home to find the holy flame and bring some of its light back home to his house. He thought: 'When I have this light, then I will have happiness and life and all the people I love will have it too.' He travelled far, far away and finally found the holy flame, with which he lit his light. On his way back he had only one worry: 'That his light could go out.' On his way home he met someone who was freezing and didn't have any fire and who begged him to give him some of his fire. The man with the light hesitated for a moment. Wasn't his light too precious, too holy to be given away for something ordinary like that? Despite these doubts, he decided to give some of his light to the one who was freezing in the darkness. The man continued his journey home and when he had almost reached his house a terrible thunderstorm started. He tried to protect his light from the rain and the storm, but at the end his light went out. To return the long way back to the place where the holy flame was burning was impossible, he wouldn't have had enough strength to go back this far - but he was strong enough to return to the human being whom he had helped on his way home.........and with his light he could light his own again.”
“Every Warrior of the Light has felt afraid of going into battle.
Every Warrior of the Light has, at some time in the past, lied or betrayed someone.
Every Warrior of the Light has trodden a path that was not his.
Every Warrior of the Light has suffered for the most trivial of reasons.
Every Warrior of the Light has, at least once, believed he was not a Warrior of the Light.
Every Warrior of the Light has failed in his spiritual duties.
Every Warrior of the Light has said 'yes' when he wanted to say 'no.'
Every Warrior of the Light has hurt someone he loved.
That is why he is a Warrior of the Light, because he has been through all this and yet has never lost hope of being better than he is.”
“This is who we are, who we aspire to be and what we will bring to the world. We are The Dawns Trust, Azeroth’s holy light. Use your powers well, and we will not falter. We cannot falter for we must be that beacon that others can look to in times of need, be proud you are the chosen Argent Crusade.”
And so upon the break of dawn a new hope had been born into the world. The call had been answered, the calling of the Argent Crusade. The Dawns Trust.
