A young girl seemingly around eleven years old tried hard to reach up toward a high shelf for a book, jumping a little but still unable to reach she gave up and looked down in disappointment. An arm reached over her head and plucked the book she was going for from the shelf, holding it down to her so she could take it with a big smile and a happy gasp, which turnsed into a gasp of surprise when she lookd up to see who had helped her. Krell looked back down at her with his usual calm demeanour, watching her bow rapidly with the book clutched to her chest, giving a half-yelled thank you before scurrying away rapidly, her cheeks covered in a deep blush.
Krell cocked his head to one side as the girl disappeared around the corner, turning and leaving in the opposite direction, that girl came to the library quite often and was always going after the books on the high shelves - which were quite a bit more than a child her age should be reading yet she did anyway. It was nice to see young intellects flourishing, even if the girl's motives for being there weren't entirely about books, childhood crushes weren't something that mattered to him though and if it made her learn he didn't much care if the motivation wasn't what it should be.
"Children," he said quietly, shaking his head while walking through the door into his office.
The Great Library was immense, the only building in Xion larger than it was the Creator's palace itself, all the lore and knowledge of the universe was kept within these halls. The complex was so big that it never seem full, even when hundreds of immortals were present there, in fact often you could end up with an entire wing of the library to yourself and see nobody for hours depending how long you remained there. This was like a paradise to a man like Krell, who had never been a social animal in any measure, he preferred to be isolated and alone with his texts and thoughts with only a few people ever visiting him.
Lowering his head he shut his eyes tight suddenly, a shudder rushing through him and making him rub his temples, he momentarily felt weak but it soon passed him by. Letting out a light breath, he lifted his head again and looked ahead of himself, a frown creasing his brow while his purple eyes dimmed in their glow somewhat.
"If you don't do something soon, you'll die." The voice came from around him, unheard by anyone but him even had anyone been in the room.
"I know," he replied, letting out a slow breath. "But what can be done?"
"There are ways, but all of them come with their own dangers." The voice replied, sounding concerned.
"Danger doesn't concern me, we'll start with one and if it fails, go through the others." he insisted, standing up now he'd collected himself and going to his private shelf, pulling out books.
"You weren't this adamant to stay alive before." The voice seemed to be probing for an explanation.
"Nobody would have been wounded deeply by the loss back then." He left it at that, putting the pile of books on his desk and beginning to go through them.
