History: The History of the man known as Makael is older than even he can remember. It all began when he was another man, in another part of the universe.
He was a Zeenth, a race of humanoids with long necks. It was a backwater planet, and its people had only just achieved basic industrial technology. Makael was a hunter and father, living with his daughter and wife in a small hut. His people were however, famed for their ability to see the future. Some of their elders could see all of time, and predicted great and terrible events. Many were kept secret, for their knowledge would scare the general population.
The hunter was hunting late one night when he found an ancient temple, restored recently by a cult to worship the coming Apocalypse. The hunter let curiosity get the better of him, but little did he realize this was his destiny.
Upon entering, he found himself bound in place by a voice. It announced itself to him as the "Dark Lord of Oblivion". And told him that it was for the best that the Universe be turned to nothingness, and he was to be the herald of doom. He had a vision at this moment, seeing the destiny that laid out before him, and why the elders had kept secrets from him.
He accepted the Dark Gods offer, knowing he had to. At that moment his skin was turned black, his eyes a pale silver, and given a new name: Lord Makvhug, herald of Oblivion.
His first forced task was to destroy his own people. He did so without remorse. His homeworld burned, the Elders accepting their fate easier than most. No one survived. Not even his wife and child.
He left his homeworld on a mission to recover a tome, known simply as the Tome of Eternal Darkness. Through this book his master would become corporal in the universe, and devour it. Many worlds were lost in the resulting pursuit, including the destruction of the Revian homeworld.
Eventually it came to land on the homeworld of a species known locally as the Myr'aelaer. The dark powers of the book corrupted them, shortly before the book continued its journey, as if it had a mind of its own. Its next stop was a world named Asuren, a planet where Makvhug knew his destiny would be fulfilled.
While scouting the planet, Makvhug encountered Isaan, the future Emperor of the Underworld for the first time. Hiding from his masters sight if only for a moment, he got to his knees and pleaded with Isaan, begging him to bring back Dragos Midnight, which had been made defunct, the organization of hunters that would finally bring him down.
It was shortly after this that he was attacked by a vengeful force of Revian vessels, using a powerful weapon designed to kill immortals. Makvhug's current body was destroyed, but his spirit lingered, preserved by his master.
His masters plan accelerated. On the planet Asuren, he began to whisper promises of power to an Elvin of the world, named Aldoroth Falkiri. He drove the Elvin mad, forcing him to kill his Wife and seriously harm his daughter with horrific experiments that culminated in Makvhug gaining possession of the daughter, Carliana. To this day, Makvhug is still wracked with guilt for his actions in this matter.
For half a century, Makvhug lay dormant within Carliana, waiting for the right time to reemerge. During this time, in order to stay hidden, he was forced to make her kill her first husband in his sleep.
Finally, his time came, when circumstances had it that Carliana became involved with Dragos Midnight, who had come to the planet seeking a dark disturbance. Discovering the dark presence of Makvhug within her, they did battle with a posessed Carliana, sucessfully removing his soul from her body.
Another act that still haunts him to this day. Carliana never recovered her sanity, and to this day is still deemed to be insane. Still, without a body, Makvhug was left drifting for a while, before finding a recently deceased corpse, and rising once more as a half-dead monstrosity.
Following further battles, Makvhug was destroyed by Dragos, and his soul supposedly destroyed. However, the Immortal Alaister, seeing the spark of light within him, saved his soul and brought him to the immortal realm, where he asked for Makvhug's help in destroying his former master. Free from his grasp at last, and his destiny at hand, he agreed, telling Alaister how to use the book to destroy the Dark Lord.
His information proved useful, and his former master was destroyed, but it was at this moment they discovered that the "Dark Lord" was only half of a greater being, known as Imrivion. Another battle ensued, but this time he was destroyed forever.
Free of his masters grasp and given a new form, his current one, Makvhug was granted the rank of Inquisitor at Dragos Midnight. For centuries he served in his rank proudly, ready for the final day of reckoning.
This would come during the war against Baelze, the first ruler of the Underworld, and the greatest threat to the Universe. Makvhug began seeing new visions that made him realise why he had been through so much - He was destined to save Isaan, and watch over him until he could become Emperor of the Underworld.
He spent increasing amounts of time alone, still wracked with guilt for his actions that doomed his own people, and killed billions. Isaan repeatedly told him that this was not his fault, that he cannot be held responsible for destiny.
During the war with Baelze, both sides chose an Avatar. Isaan was chosen to be the Avatar of the creator, and in a cruel twist, Baelze forced Makvhug to his his Avatar, knowing that it would pain Isaan to kill his best friend.
Makvhug did not resist, knowing this was part of the prophecy. He also knew that Isaan would do what he had to. In the resulting battle, Makvhug allowed Isaan to destroy him, before also destroying Baelze's true form.
Makvhug had made the ultimate sacrifice, and was dying. Surrounded by his friends and comrades, he finally felt like he was redeemed. But the immortals looked kindly upon him for the sacrifices he had made across time to preserve existance, and granted him ascension. He rose once more, gifted with shining, silver wings. He rose as an Avian, a holy order of immortals who honour the creator above all else.
It was also at this moment he finally learned of something joyful - his people had not been destroyed. The immortals had granted his entire race ascension. The Zeenth had survived, and now dwelled in the immortal realm. Makvhug spent much time with his reunited family, even casting off the name of Makvhug after learning his original name - Makael. But he never stopped working for Dragos. Over the next year or so he continued his job as Inquisitor on the planet Asuren, while also beginning a catalog of the Multiverse, as per Isaan's orders.
A few years later Makael announced he was going on a 1,000 year mission to catalog the multiverse. With Isaan's blessing, he vanished into a dimensional portal and went missing for a very long time.
A little longer than planned, but he returned to find Isaan as the Emperor of the Underworld, and Dragos rather quiet. However, Isaan learned of his old friends return, and by his order, Makael was elevated to Grand Inquisitor, and posted to the role of leader of Dragos Midnight. Gladly accepting, he leads his team into this new age.
While his ability to see the future is diminished, it is not gone. Sometimes he sees glimmers, blurs of what is to come. But he never lets it rule his life any more.
